prologue

Our unexpected journey began in March of this year (2013) when my breast cancer was diagnosed.  I was only 33 years old at time of diagnosis.  I was a full-time graduate student.  Our life was 'normal' and blessed.  Then, out of the blue, I found a lump...and our life was turned upside down as we embarked on our unexpected journey.

~♥~

Our love story is pretty 'normal' -- girl meets girl and falls in love.

You know the saying “you have to kiss a lot of frogs to find a prince”? Well.....I met my princess in 2007.

I worked for a radio station with an amphibian for a mascot.

My love's girlfriend (at the time) was working with me as a mascot; she came in one Friday to pick up her paycheck. My love was with her.

As “corny” as it may sound, our eyes met and sparks flew. She started working with me as a mascot. We would talk non-stop. It was so comfortable when we were together. I couldn’t stop thinking about her. We started dating. Before long, we were inseparable.

We have spent nearly 6 years together. We have been through so much together already – loss of loved ones, job turmoil, economic hardship, Cancer; as well as happy times -- birthdays, anniversaries, the birth of a niece. We have wonderful families. Our families are very important to us and we spend a lot of time with them. One of our favorite activities is playing dominoes with our Grandma. We also spend every New Year’s Eve cooking and playing games with her.

We have three “furry” daughters together. We hope to have a baby in the future. We are so much in love that many people (those who don’t even know us) can see and feel the love when they spend time with us.

This journey may be unexpected, but we will travel it together.
